Next weekend, the photos selected and will show a clear overview. Behind the scenes we working hard to make the DVD which also includes a selection of photos.

Only one night away from the big event! The weather is looking very promising and the final preparery activities have been finished.

Tomorow around 12:30 the first contestants will arive on camping de berenkuil (see picture for exact location).

Hoe nu verder?

In just a week and a half the 33rd Betonkanorace will commence. The organization is proud to announce that there are a total of 37 canoe’s from 15 different education institutions enlisted for participation.

So the letters that were send to the different institutions both at home and abroad paid off. Institutions from Aachen, Prague, Warschau, Berthune, Munchen Glabach and Zurich have send their teams. From the Netherlands, institutions from Den Bosch, Roermond, Heerlen, Eindhoven, Enschede, Zwolle, Delft, Leeuwarden and off course Utrecht have send their teams.

Meanwhile all the contesting teams have received their information booklets which provides them with the final programme for the weekend and all sorts of useful information. The different sponsors have been informed and the first interviews with the press are completed.

Tonight all the volunteers will be informed so they all know exactly what needs to be done to ensure a smooth weekend. The Betonkanorace 2010 promises to be a fantastic event in the center of the beautiful city Utrecht!

At the time of writing we have only 32 nights left until the event will take place! We will start with a boat show and a big party!

Besides the aforementioned sponsors, we found more companies willing to support the event. Thanks to Heijmans Infra and Royal Boskalis Westminster, the event will provide storage containers, a debris container, garbage containers, an aggregate, pontoons, a fleet and transportation for the canoe from the campground to the race location! Deys Concrete Technology delivers all materials for the 7! canoes that are built in Utrecht. Besides that we get financial support from Arcadis, MT & V Engineering and Continuous.

Obvious we are very thankful for all that support! Without sponsors the event would not as big as it’s now!

Weekendje commissie

Obviously there are not only serious business to do by the commission. We also enjoy the meetings, with the sponsors, participants, Academy of Utrecht, etc. We also enjoyed a well deserved weekend….. in the ‘village’ Valkenswaard.

As the pictures of this weekend show you (see ‘photo’s) most of time we ate and drunk some. During the weekend we put the finishing touches on the scheduling for the weekend of June 4th to 6.

It promises to be a great weekend, although we are a little dependent on the weather! Anyway, we are excited! Don’t you?

The organization of the Concrete Canoe Race is pleased to announce the first sponsors for the event. The following companies have definitely decided to move sponsorship. Cursus

Na een tijdje stil geweest vanaf onze kant is er weer nieuws!

Voor studenten voor civiele techniek van de Hogeschool Utrecht is een nieuw verplichte cursus gekomen. Namelijk een betonnen kano bouwen inclusief mee doen aan de race. De studenten moeten zelf materiaal regelen en eventueel een sponsor, zodat zij kunnen deelnemen aan dit geweldige spektakel! Zij zijn niet de enige die kunnen genieten van deze cursus, want voor bouwkunde studenten van de Hogeschool Utrecht is het een keuze vak.

Het is jullie misschien ook opgevallen dat er een nieuwe pagina te vinden is op de site. Namelijk de ‘cursus’ pagina. Deze pagina is speciaal bedoelt voor studenten die de cursus Betonkanorace gaan volgen. Hier staat informatie op die zij nodig hebben. Tevens houdt dit niet in dat deze pagina voor andere geïnteresseerde niet interessant is.

Binnenkort zullen meer nieuwsberichten verschijnen. We hopen dat we elke 3 weken een nieuw nieuwtje kunnen vertellen aangezien de Betonkanorace 2010 steeds dichter in de buurt komt en de vorderingen steeds verder gaan rollen!

A while back the regulations/provisions and constructionrules have been published, these documents where written in the Dutch language. Some time ago the committee had been actively reviewing the terms and construction rules concerning the participation of the betonkanorace. These documents where compared with the corresponding documents used by the Americans. The American documents are very extensive and we think that the implementation can be a threshold for some groups. This is why the adjustments made are scarce. Ample adjustments are made concerning the participation itself so read them carefully. If there are any questions concerning the terms or the construction rules do not hesitate to email us at info@betonkanorace2010.n.
